Why do we still talk about translation today?

It's been a while since this blog was silent.
Not because I lack interest in languages or translation—quite the contrary—but because, like many freelancers, I had to make choices and prioritize certain things.

Translation: so much more than just words

Translation is often thought of as an almost automatic exercise: one word in one language, one word in another. A few clicks, and you're done.

In reality, translating is above all about understanding. Understanding what is said, but also what is implied. It means reading between the lines, grasping an intention, and then rephrasing a message so that it sounds natural in another language.

A good translation does not stand out. It reads effortlessly, as if the text had always been written in the target language.

This is where the translator 's work takes on its full meaning. It's not just about translating, but also adapting, adjusting, and sometimes completely rephrasing so that the message really resonates with its audience.
